"Not bad for a white woman" All tracks © 1999-2003 Maria Nazzaro | Maria Nazzaro:A powerful voice and a spirit to match, that's Maria. Her music, like her personality, is a strong mix of rhythm, blues, rock and a side order of humour. She sings, writes, and plays several instruments (most notably guitar and piano) - and has no illusions about "instant fame": "I've worked as a waitress at a diner, a legal secretary, a carpenter and a housecleaner, while simultaneously trying to pursue a career in acting/music, with the occasional weekend "gig" singing in a local cover bar band. (Whew!) I am currently teaching voice at a local music school, singing in a show on the weekends and recording my next project. I've been working at developing my craft for nine years now. I started out singing some covers in my cousin's band to make some extra cash, and to get over my extreme shyness. We played easy-listening music to a crowd that was more interested in the chicken on their plate than what was happening on stage. It was a bitch and a cure. " Maria is also an accomplished actress currently appearing slightly off Broadway...and perhaps on a TV set near you! "Maria Nazzaro reminds me of "I've worked with Elton John, Donna Summer and John Lennon, I've been in the music business long enough to spot great talent when I hear it...Maria you have what it takes to make it in this business" |
